What is Whim?

Whim is a same-day delivery app for New York City's independent boutiques and gift shops. Browse local stores or tell Whim's AI concierge what you need, and a courier brings it to your door the same day. No delivery fee on standard orders across Manhattan.

Is Whim live yet?

Not yet. Whim is a waitlist today, not an open app. Join at getwhim.app and we will text you when early access opens in New York City.

Is Whim an app?

Yes, Whim is an app. You browse local shops, talk to the concierge and follow your delivery in the Whim app. It is not open to everyone yet: join the waitlist at getwhim.app and we will text you when early access opens.

Is delivery on Whim free?

There is no delivery fee on standard orders across Manhattan. A local courier collects your order from the shop and carries it to your door the same day. Express delivery, where a shop offers it, carries a fee that is shown before you pay, as are sales tax and any courier tip you choose.

What if something is wrong with my order?

Tell us within 24 hours of the delivery, through the order in the app or at support@getwhim.app. Damaged, wrong, missing or undelivered items are refunded to the card you paid with within 5 to 10 business days once a person has reviewed the request. Returns and exchanges follow each shop's own policy. The full rules are in the refund policy at getwhim.app/refunds.

How fast is Whim delivery?

Whim delivery is same-day. A courier collects your order from the shop and brings it to the door on the day you order it, within the shop's own opening hours. Whim does not quote a delivery window.

Where does Whim deliver?

Whim delivers across all of Manhattan, from the Financial District, Battery Park City and Tribeca up through Chelsea, Flatiron, the Meatpacking District, Hell's Kitchen and Midtown, across the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, and up into Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Which neighborhoods does Whim deliver to, and is Brooklyn coming?

Whim delivers to every neighborhood in Manhattan, and Brooklyn is not announced. The full list runs from the Financial District to Inwood and is at the bottom of this page. Whim is starting in Manhattan; there is nothing announced yet about the other boroughs.

What can I buy on Whim?

You can buy whatever New York City's independent boutiques and gift shops have on their shelves. Whim holds no inventory of its own, so the selection is the city's own: flowers, candles, books, home goods, sweet treats and more. Shop for yourself, or send a gift with a card.

Which shops are on Whim?

Boyar Gifts, an independent gift shop at 388 Bleecker Street in the West Village, is Whim's first partner shop. More shops are being hand-selected across Manhattan, one at a time. If there is a shop you want on Whim, name it on the homepage at getwhim.app.

Can I get a specific shop delivered through Whim?

Only if that shop is a Whim partner. Whim delivers from the independent shops it has partnered with, starting with Boyar Gifts in the West Village, rather than from every store in the city. Name the shop you want on the homepage at getwhim.app, and we will go and ask them.

What is the Whim Concierge?

The Concierge is Whim's AI shopping assistant. Tell it the occasion, the mood, the budget, or the exact thing you have in mind, and it comes back with options from local shops that can go out the same day, plus a draft card message when you are sending a gift.

Can I send a gift with a card?

Yes, any Whim order can be sent as a gift with a card. Address it to someone else, and the Concierge will draft the card message for you. A courier brings the gift and the card to their door the same day.

How is Whim different from Instacart, DoorDash or Gopuff?

Whim delivers from independent boutiques and gift shops, not from supermarkets, restaurants or a warehouse. There is no Whim inventory: a courier picks your order up off the shop's own shelf. An AI concierge helps you choose, and delivery is free across Manhattan.

How is Whim different from Gesture?

Gesture sends gifts from a curated catalog that it stocks and ships; Whim delivers from New York City's own independent shops. Whim holds no inventory, so what you can buy is whatever a partner boutique or gift shop has on its shelf, carried across Manhattan by a local courier.

Is this the same Whim as whim.com or the Whim dating app?

No, this Whim is getwhim.app, the same-day delivery app for New York City's independent boutiques and gift shops. Whim (getwhim.app) is not affiliated with whim.com, the Whim dating app, Whim Fine Jewelry, the former WHIM restaurant in Brooklyn, or other apps and companies named Whim.

How do shops join Whim, and what does it cost them?

Shops apply through the form at getwhim.app/for-shops, and we walk through terms with each shop individually. Whim hand-selects the boutiques and gift shops on the platform, so sending the form does not guarantee acceptance. Tell us what you sell and what point of sale you run, and we will take it from there.

How do I contact Whim?
