About Whim

What Whim is

Whim is a same-day delivery app for New York City's independent boutiques and gift shops. Browse local stores or tell Whim's AI concierge what you need, and a courier brings it to your door the same day. No delivery fee on standard orders across Manhattan. Whim holds no inventory of its own. Every order is bought from a local independent store and carried by a local courier, so what you can buy is whatever the city's own boutiques and gift shops have on their shelves. Shop for yourself, or send a gift with a card that the concierge helps you draft. Whim is currently a waitlist at getwhim.app.

Why independent shops

New York City's independent boutiques and gift shops are the whole point of Whim, not a category inside it. Whim holds no inventory and runs no warehouse, so there is nothing on Whim that a local shop does not already have. A courier collects the thing itself, off the shelf, from the shop that chose to stock it. You are buying from that shop, not from Whim, and what the city's shops carry is exactly what Whim can bring you.

How it works

1. Browse the shops, or tell the concierge what you are looking for.
2. Pick what you want from the options that come back.
3. Add a card, if you are sending it to someone else.
4. A courier collects it from the shop and brings it to the door the same day.

Where we deliver

Whim covers all of Manhattan, from the Financial District up to Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood, and is launching in New York City first. Every neighborhood is named in the full list on the FAQ.

Our first partner shop

Whim's first partner shop is Boyar Gifts, an independent gift shop at 388 Bleecker Street in the West Village. More shops are being hand-selected, one at a time, across Manhattan.

Not the other Whims

Whim (getwhim.app) is not affiliated with whim.com, the Whim dating app, Whim Fine Jewelry, the former WHIM restaurant in Brooklyn, or other apps and companies named Whim. Those are, in order, a month-to-month product rental service, a dating app, a New York jewelry brand, a restaurant in Brooklyn that has since closed, and a handful of unrelated apps that share the name in the app stores. This Whim is the same-day delivery app at getwhim.app.
